The Georgia Bulldogs remain one of the most talked-about programs in college football under head coach Kirby Smart. National title discussions follow them every offseason, and 2026 has been no different.
Even on a roster filled with highly ranked talent and returning starters, some productive players still manage to fly under the radar. Here are three Georgia players who deserve more national attention heading into the upcoming season.
1. Offensive Lineman Juan Gaston
Georgia fans already know how talented Juan Gaston is. Nationally, however, he still doesn’t receive the recognition his performance warrants.
Gaston started as a true freshman in 2025 and is expected to remain a cornerstone of the offensive line in 2026. In a unit loaded with talent, many believe he may possess the highest long-term ceiling and the brightest professional future of the group.
With a full season of starting experience already under his belt, Gaston is positioned to take another step forward. A strong 2026 campaign could elevate him into the conversation as one of the better offensive linemen in the SEC and a potential high-level NFL prospect.
2. Tight End Ethan Barbour
Georgia’s tight end room receives plenty of hype — and rightfully so. Lawson Luckie, Elyiss Williams, and the rising buzz around Jaden Reddell dominate most of the conversation. That depth makes it easy to overlook Ethan Barbour.
Barbour actually cracked the lineup as a true freshman in the 2025 season opener before a leg injury sidelined him for most of the year. Before the injury, coaches were extremely high on his toughness, blocking ability, versatility, and receiving skills.
Had he stayed healthy, Barbour might be one of the more talked-about names in the tight end group heading into this season. Even with significant competition for snaps, he is expected to earn a meaningful role. In an offense that figures to feature tight ends heavily, Barbour remains a dangerous and somewhat overlooked weapon.
3. Linebacker Chris Cole
It may seem surprising to include a projected starter at linebacker on an under-the-radar list, but Chris Cole was left off preseason All-SEC teams. That omission alone places him in this conversation.
Cole has shown versatility over the past two seasons, contributing as a pass rusher, coverage defender, and run-stopper. While he left some plays on the field in 2025, he enters his third year with the opportunity to put everything together.
At a program known for producing NFL-caliber linebackers, Cole has the tools to emerge as one of the more complete players at the position. A breakout season could push him into the national discussion and strengthen his case as a future high draft pick.
Why These Three Matter for Georgia in 2026
Juan Gaston, Ethan Barbour, and Chris Cole represent different ways players can fly under the radar on a loaded roster. One is a returning starter who hasn’t yet received national acclaim. Another is a talented tight end buried in a deep position group after an injury-shortened freshman year. The third is a productive linebacker who simply hasn’t generated preseason awards buzz.
All three have clear paths to significant roles. If they capitalize on those opportunities, they won’t stay under the radar for long.
As Georgia prepares for another season with championship expectations, keep these names in mind. The players who don’t dominate the headlines often end up making some of the biggest impacts when the games begin.
