Gonzaga has added another experienced piece to its frontcourt.
Florida State transfer forward Chauncey Wiggins has committed to the Bulldogs, agent Daniel Hazan of Hazan Sports told On3. The 6-foot-10 senior will use a fifth year of eligibility granted through a recent court injunction after averaging 13.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last season while shooting nearly 39 percent from three-point range.
Chauncey Wiggins’ Path to Gonzaga
Wiggins began his college career at Clemson, where he spent three seasons and steadily improved. He then transferred to Florida State for the 2025-26 season under first-year head coach Luke Loucks. In Tallahassee, he started 30 of 32 games and posted career-best numbers.
During his lone season with the Seminoles, Wiggins averaged 13.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 27.9 minutes per game. He shot 47.9 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from beyond the arc (72 made threes), and 85.1 percent from the free-throw line. His scoring ability from the perimeter made him one of the more efficient stretch forwards in the ACC.
Wiggins also appeared in the 2026 NBA Summer League with the Boston Celtics before the eligibility ruling opened the door for one more college season.
What Wiggins Brings to Gonzaga
At 6-10 with a reliable three-point stroke, Wiggins fits the modern stretch-four role that Mark Few’s system often utilizes. His ability to space the floor, knock down open threes, and finish around the basket gives the Bulldogs another versatile scoring option in the frontcourt.
Gonzaga has already been active in the transfer portal this offseason. Wiggins becomes one of several experienced additions, joining players such as Arizona State center Massamba Diop, Houston wing Isiah Harwell, and Dayton point guard Javon Bennett. The program has also brought in a group of freshmen to round out the roster.
Fifth-Year Eligibility Opens New Opportunity
Wiggins was among the players impacted by the recent court ruling that granted additional eligibility to certain athletes. The injunction allowed him to return for a fifth year after completing his four seasons of competition.
The decision gives both the player and Gonzaga a chance to benefit from his experience. For Wiggins, it offers one more opportunity to elevate his stock. For the Bulldogs, it adds a proven scorer who has already shown he can produce in a Power conference environment.
Looking Ahead to the 2026-27 Season
Gonzaga continues to shape a competitive roster as it prepares for the upcoming season in the evolving conference landscape. Adding a player with Wiggins’ size, shooting ability, and college experience strengthens the frontcourt depth and gives the coaching staff more lineup flexibility.
Wiggins’ combination of length, perimeter shooting, and prior high-level competition makes him a natural fit in Spokane. As the Bulldogs finalize their roster, this commitment stands out as one of the more impactful transfer additions of the cycle.
