The Big Ten Huddle’s 2026 Preseason Top 100 Players list dropped and immediately split the conference. Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith claimed the top spot, the Buckeyes loaded the early rankings, Minnesota placed a league-high nine players, and Wisconsin was completely left out. That combination has fans arguing, screenshotting, and already looking ahead to fall camp.
Below is the cleaned-up version of the full Top 100 list based on the rankings released by the Big Ten Huddle.

Why the List Is Already Controversial
Jeremiah Smith at No. 1 was widely expected. The Ohio State wide receiver has the production, the size, and the highlight-reel ability that make him the safest high-end choice in the conference.
The bigger talking points sit further down. Minnesota’s nine selections lead the league and have Gophers fans celebrating the depth of their roster. Wisconsin’s total of zero has drawn the strongest backlash. Badgers supporters quickly pointed to linebacker Mason Posa — a 2025 Freshman All-American who recorded 30 solo tackles and four sacks — as one of the more notable omissions.
Individual placements are also generating debate. Michigan’s Jordan Marshall checking in at No. 87 and Indiana’s Nick Marsh at No. 62 have both been questioned by fans who feel those players belong higher.
What It Means Heading Into Camp
Preseason lists like this rarely predict the final order of the season, but they do something more useful: they create motivation. Players and teams that feel overlooked now have ready-made bulletin-board material. Programs that scored well can point to the recognition as early validation of their roster strength.
With fall camp approaching and a deep, competitive Big Ten season on the horizon, the arguments over this Top 100 are only getting started. Whether you agree with every ranking or not, the list has already succeeded in one clear way — it has the entire conference talking.
