Five-star Ohio State wide receiver commit Jamier Brown is back at Wayne High School.
After transferring to Big Walnut in January and spending the winter and spring in Sunbury, the Huber Heights product has returned to his original school for his senior season. Multiple reports confirmed Brown is enrolled at Wayne and has already begun practicing with the football team as camp opened.
Jamier Brown’s Short Stay at Big Walnut Ends
Brown moved to Sunbury and enrolled at Big Walnut High School earlier this year. He competed for the Golden Eagles in track and field during the spring, winning the Division II state championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.42 seconds.
That chapter has now closed. Big Walnut officials confirmed Brown is no longer enrolled at the school, and he has been seen practicing with Wayne. School administrators are working through the remaining eligibility details.
Strong Production and Elite Ranking for the Ohio State Commit
Brown ranks as the No. 4 wide receiver and roughly No. 25 overall prospect in the 2027 class according to major recruiting services. He is widely regarded as the top high school player in Ohio.
Last season at Wayne he finished second in the Greater Western Ohio Conference with 1,009 receiving yards. He caught 73 passes for 10 touchdowns and also scored on kick and punt returns. Career totals at Wayne stand at 2,556 receiving yards, 3,875 all-purpose yards, and 36 total touchdowns.
What the Return Means for Wayne and Ohio State
Returning to Wayne places Brown back in a familiar environment for his final high school season. The Warriors get their star playmaker for one more year, while Ohio State retains a high-upside in-state commitment who continues to develop both on the football field and on the track.
Brown committed to the Buckeyes in November 2024 and has remained solid in his pledge throughout the transfer process. His combination of speed, production, and local ties makes him a key piece of Ohio State’s 2027 recruiting class.
Looking Ahead to the 2026 High School Season
Eligibility questions related to the second transfer will need to be resolved, but Brown is already on the field practicing with Wayne. Assuming everything is cleared, he will look to build on last year’s strong numbers and close out his high school career where it began.
For Ohio State fans, the news keeps one of the top receivers in the 2027 cycle on track to arrive in Columbus after another year of high-level competition.
